The bats were out in full force in the lower levels of the Blue Jays farm system last night.
In his second game since returning from a 50-game suspension for a positive PED test, Griffin Conine had a career night for Lansing, banging out a pair of Home Runs and a pair of Doubles as part of a 4-5 night, as the Lugs pounded Dayton 9-4. Reggie Pruitt chipped in 3 hits for Lansing, and stole his league-leading 22nd and 23rd bases. A scary moment came in the 3rd inning when C Gabriel Moreno was hit by an up-and-in pitch, and was removed from the game.
The Florida State League North Division-leading Dunedin Blue Jays pounded out 19 hits in a 12-4 thrashing of Dayton. Logan Warmoth, who has been on a tear since returning from the IL this week, went 3-5, with his first HR of the year, and finished a single shy of the cycle. Cal Stevenson also had a 3-5 night, and is hitting at a .372 clip over his last ten. All 9 Dunedin starters had at least one hit. Starter Justin Dillon had runners on in each of his first three innings, but got out of it each time, and tossed 5 shutout innings. Ronny Brito, acquired in the Russell Martin deal with the Dodgers, made his full season debut at 3B, and went 2-4.
New Hampshire starter Nate Pearson struggled for the second time in three starts, and failed to complete five innings in the Fisher Cats’ 5-1 loss at Harrisburg. Pearson gave up some contact, and struggled to locate his breaking ball.
There was not much to write home about as Buffalo dropped a 9-2 decision to Syracuse.
