If not for a doubleheader split, it would’ve been a #OrgSweep in the Blue Jays minor league system last night.
Buffalo’s bats came alive as the Bisons earned that split with visiting Pawtucket. Anthony Alford, Michael De La Cruz, and Cavan Biggio went yard in game one to give knuckleballer Ryan Feierabend a 10-1 W in his Bisons debut. Andy Burns and Jordan Patterson went deep in game two, but Buffalo fell 6-5.
Lansing’s bats were booming as the Lugnuts avoided a sweep in the fourth and final game of their series with visiting Wisconsin with a 10-4 triumph. Rapidly improving DJ Neal led the way with a perfect night at the plate. Neal went 3-3 with a pair of walks, two stolen bases, and four runs, and Joey Murray gave up two runs and five hits over six innings in recording the W. Murray struck out 7, to raise his MWL-leading total to 40.
New Hampshire starter Andrew Sopko and the bullpen were the story as the Fisher Cats evened their record at 14-14 with a 1-0 victory over Hartford. Sopko allowed three hits – all singles – and didn’t walk a batter, and Ty Tice tossed a pair of scoreless innings to get the Save.
In Dunedin, Hunter Steinmetz Homered in his first FSL game since being promoted from Extended, and Graham Spraker threw five shutout innings as the D-Jays topped Daytona Beach 6-2. Norberto Obeso added five hits, and Cal Stevenson added a pair of hits for Dunedin.
