Blue Jays Send Seven to the Desert

Seven Blue Jays prospects have been sent to the Arizona Fall League for some finishing against elite competition, as well (in several cases) to make up for playing time lost to injury this season.

Gaby Moreno was activated at Buffalo for the end of the AAA season, but obviously needs some time in Arizona after missing July and August with a broken thumb. His exploits in the southwest should be worth following

Leo Jimenez is one of the more intriguing prospects sent to Arizona. After spending the season at Low A (where he missed about half the season due to ailments), Jimenez has been challenged with this assignment against high level competition. The best defensive SS in the organization, Jimenez has come a long way at the plate, and it will be interesting to see how he fares – struggles, at least at first, won’t be a surprise.

Dominguez is an undersized pitcher who turned some heads at Low A this year. Signed away from a FSU commitment after the Blue Jays selected him in the 15th round in 2019, he’s something of a sleeper.

Finfrock is a promising bullpen arm who has missed time due to injury. Expect him to excel at this level of competition.

Rodning’s numbers might not reflect it, but he was one of the mainstays in AA New Hampshire’s bullpen. The lefty has a funky delivery that gives LHH some troubles.

A former starter, Spraker was dominant at New Hampshire in relief this year, with a 13.1 K/9.

Horwitz, he of the NWL record 28 game hitting streak, put together a scorching last six weeks of the season. An on-base machine, Horwitz showed some pop over the final stages of 2021. This assignment is a feather in his cap.
