The Blue Jays have gone internal to fill one of their two upper level Managerial vacancies.

Ken Huckaby, who served a stint as Roy Halladay’s personal Catcher from 2002-2005, was named to lead the AAA Buffalo Bisons today.

After his playing career ended, Huckaby joined the Blue Jays organization in 2013.  He last Managed at Low A Lansing in 2015, leading the Lugnuts to a first half division title.  For the past three seasons, he has been tutoring backstops around the system as the team’s roving Catching instructor.

Well-liked throughout the organization, Huck replaces Bobby Meacham, who had led the Bisons for the past three seasons.  Reports are that Meacham was miffed that he wasn’t considered for the Blue Jays Managerial position that went to Charlie Montoyo last off season.

As well, it has been reported that rising MLB Managerial candidate Cesar Martin has been moved up to AA New Hampshire from High A Dunedin.  Martin will replace veteran staffer Mike Mordecai, who left the organization last year to accept a coaching/teaching position at his former high school. Martin was the Florida State League Manager of the Year for 2019 after moving up from Lansing.
