RHP Luis Quiñones, who was lights out in the Vancouver bullpen this year, received an 80 game ban today for a positive test for Nandrolone, a steroid which aids recovery, as well as building muscle by producing protein.
Quiñones, a 34th round find out of Juco power San Jacinto last June, fanned 47 in 30 innings this season. He combined an ability to spot his mid-90s fastball to both sides of the plate, a bit of deception in his delivery, and a late breaking slider to mostly overmatch NWL hitters.
Since he was on Lansing’s roster, Quiñones’ 2020 debut will not occur until late June at the earliest.
In Lansing, he can join Conceptio, Hernandez and Naswell who were all suspended in 2018.
