Down on the Farm: 4/26

A linear look at the games in the Blue Jays farm system last night:

Buffalo began its post-Vladdy era with a 7-2 loss to Lehigh Valley.  Jonathan Davis was the lone bright spot for the Bisons, hitting a two-run HR in the 3rd, the second straight game he’s gone yard.  Davis has reached base in all four games he’s played in since returning from the IL.  Shawn Morimando was touched for 6 runs on 10 hits before leaving with two out in the 5th.  Cavan Biggio reached base with a walk, but saw his average dip below .400 with an 0-3 night.

A late afternoon thunderstorm in Reading caused the stadium lights to malfunction, forcing a postponement with New Hampshire.  The game will be made up when the Fisher Cats return in the second half of the season.

Dunedin handed starter Graham Spraker a 3-run lead  in their top of the 1st over Jupiter before he took the mound, and he and the D-Jays bullpen made that margin stand up in winning their second straight.  The Jupiter starting pitcher had his command issues, loading up the bases with a pair of walks and HBP, then allowing a pair of walks to give Dunedin a 2-0 lead.  Spraker allowed an earned run on 5 hits over 6 innings to pick up the W.  Samad Taylor and Christopher Bec had two hits each.

Lansing starter Josh Winckowski continued his fine start, and combined with Jackson Rees to shut out the MWL’s leader in runs scored, topping Bowling Green 4-0.  Winckowski tossed seven shutout innings to run his scoreless streak to 13 innings, and Jake Brodt hit his 3rd HR of the season.  Jackson Rees threw a pair of shutout innings, allowing onlhy a two out Double in the 9th, to lock down the W.  Over 5 outings spanning 11 innings, Rees has allowed only an unearned run while fanning 18.
