Around the horn in the Blue Jays minor league system last night….

In Lansing, Josh Winckowski continued his fine start with six shutout innings, and a trio of relievers tossed a shutout inning each as the Lugnuts topped Dayton, 4-0.  Winckowski allowed only a pair of hits while walking three and striking out four.  Eight of his outs came via the groundball.  Marcus Reyes gave up one hit while pitching a scoreless 7th, while Will McAffer and Jackson Rees each tossed a pair of perfect innings to preserve the W.  Winckowski received all the support he needed when Lansing struck for three runs in the home half of the 1st.

Dunedin travelled to Lakeland and scored three runs in the 4th, and another three in the 5th to top the Flying Tigers, 6-4.  Nate Pearson started the game for the D-Jays, and hit 100 in the first inning, but was removed after the second – there’s no word on why, and don’t expect any.  Graham Spraker came in to relieve Pearson, and got the W despite giving up three runs and six hits in four innings.  Kyle Weatherly, Connor Law (in his FSL debut) and Matt Shannon pitched an inning of scoreless relief each to hold down the win, Shannon picking up his 3rd Save in the process.  Riley Adams continued his hot start at the plate, collecting a pair of hits and a walk in five trips to the plate, while Logan Warmoth went 2-5.  Ryan Noda was hit by a pitch in the 4th, and had to leave the game.  Jonathan Davis made his 2019 debut,  hitting 3rd and playing CF.  Davis was 0-3 with a pair of walks.

In New Hampshire, starter Patrick Murphy struggled to find the margins of the strike zone, and the season-high 14 hits the Fisher Cats knocked out were not enough to top Hartford, who bashed New Hampshire 12-4.  Murphy gave up 6 runs (5 earned) on 7 hits and a walk in just 2.2 innings, giving up a pair of Home Runs.  For the Fisher Cats, Nash Knight finished a triple shy of the cycle, and Santiago Espinal had three hits.

In Buffalo, the doubleheaders are starting to pile up, as the Bisons and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre were suspended by rain in the 3rd inning.  The games will be made up when SWB visits Buffalo again in June.
